Is anybody tested the ''dishnetworks''HD satellite reciever ''dish-811''in Europe? Does it supports videoencryption used on Astra satellite for HD channels?

You will be better served if you try a DVB card, such as the Skystar 2.

There is a good possibility that setting up PC with a suitable Video card and a Phoenix Interface you could watch HD in Europe. There are forums dedicated entirely to this topic.

    Do a search.

  3. It is sold and designed to be used only with Dishentwork satellites, won't even work with DirecTv satellites.

    a. not a fta receiver.
    b. supports dish satellites only.
    c. Encryption and channel access is handled in the card, card might be built-in with a slot for future card change if needed.
    d. decoders are for the dishnetwork vesion of DVB

in short I don't think it will work in europe and I seem to recall reading somewhere that the NTSC HD tuner will only work if it is hooked up to a dish pointed at a dishnetwork satellite and maybe even be subbed.

I've been searching for an article that I read last summer that the RCA/Echostar 811 could be used for FTA. DN just replaced my 811 w/ their new generation of HD receiver, and I now have the 811 sitting around collecting dust.. I'd love to use it for fta if there is a way. Anyone have info?

It is a RECEIVER, so DEcryption is the key.I think you mean Astra1 (19.2 degrees east), but there are several encryptions used...

And DISH networks has nothing to do with european TV.
