I need a DVD player to turn on automatically....my current set up I have a DVD player that runs ads all day and night and it's hooked to a series of projectors that automatically turn on when needed....and as it turns out the DVD player only needs to run 9-10 hours a day instead of the bone-crushing 24 hours a day it's currently doing.
my problem is, I'm having to replacing DVD players about every 6 months....I can get the player to turn off automatically (well, I mean the power gets cut so it obviously turns off...) so I was wondering if there was a way to "jimmy-rig" a DVD player to turn on when it receives power.
any ideas?
thanks!
I should say I'm using the magnavox MSD115 (and before anyone rebukes me for using one of the cheapest DVD players availible...let me just say that I've done very rigorus (spell check) testing on a number of different DVD players and this one is the most compatible, longest lasting player I've come accross...I've NEVER had a play back problem with them....they just wear out after playing a DVD non-stop for 6-8 months...)
thanks again

I don't know if the MSD115 has this option, however, buy a DVD player with a "hard" on/off switch. Plug the DVD into a timer - Done
If the DVD in question has a menu, you will need to rip it and make a new DVD with the movie only.
machine turns on - DVD plays .... simple -

The timer is also taken care of....I have power there when it needs to be and it cuts off when I'm done......so all I need is a way to make a "hard" switch on my DVD player. I would prefer to solder/wire my existing DVD player instead of buying a whole new one...
any one know how?
edit: i've tried holding the power button in and plugging the player in, I've tried opening the case of the player and holding a screwdiver accross the contacts of the power button...but it doesn't automatically turn on when plugged in.
