  1. Hello all,

I recently bought a Packard Bell dvx160 dvd player. I bought it in France for about 50 euros from a proper shop and now use it in England. I am having a few problems with it though. One that concerns me the most is that it stinks, quite literally! When I put my dvd in I get a weird smell, a sort of burning smell. Not sure what to think of it really. Getting me a bit worried.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Well, it probably is something burning in the drive. If something is shorting out it can do that. Or its possible that the drive is just overheating generally due to some fault, and its slowing burning the casing, just enough to make it smell.

Whatever it is, stop using it. Hopefully you can get your money back, but if not, chalk it up to experience. Most of us have been there at one time or another.

    Bloody French!
They sold you that player so cheap, because there was a mouse in the player.
Now, every time you put a DVD in the player, the mouse scares to death and farts - hence the smell.
Bring that player outdoors, remove the cover and force the mouse out with a shotgun.
Be careful though - he might be disguised as capacitor.
