My Pioneer DVR-810HS's burner is dead

hello,
I've searched this forum for info on replacing the burner. I did find some info on replacing the HD but even that is for other pioneer models.
My unit's burner literally grinded to a halt. Inside the machine shows the burner with this designation: (Pioneer) "code DVR-105-XA".
Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm pretty sure that replacing the DVR's burner was also discussed (including other links) in the course of the 14 page thread here on upgrading the HDD ( = replacing it with a higher capacity HDD) in the 520 model. If you have a problem finding that VH forum thread, I can post it for you later.

You might try for an exact replacement on E-bay. But it can be a gamble.

There are other sources -- online vendors who still have some of the older parts. The first step is to i.d. the exact burner model, and he has already done that.

Wonder if the Pioneer Tivo machines need the service remote and disc to replace the Burner?

couldn't hurt to try:

saw a thread somewhere that suggested that the DVR-105XA is the same as a DVR-105(DVR-A05) that is found in Power Mac G4 machines.
