I have tried multiple programs without any luck so far. Can anyone recommend a program that will do this somewhat painlessly??

DGMPGDec DGIndex will demux the video and the audio into two separate files.

If you need to multiplex then you probably have freeware alternatives but I like to use MPEG-VCR aka MPEG2VCR

  4. I use QuickTime Pro with the MPEG-2 Playback component (neither of which are free) along with MPEG Streamclip (freeware) to convert VOBs to .mov

VOB2MPG is a very good, free program that will convert your VOBs to MPG.

I have Quicktime Pro 7, and I have tried using MPEG streamclip, when I bring in the files to be converted they don't show up in the preview. Then I get an error about not having the MPEG-4 codec...guess I need to invest in that. I suppose its possible to change the settings to MPEG-2??

Is there a mac version of VOB2MPG??? Might give that a try if there is.

    Thanks for the help!

You need the Mpeg-2 QuickTime component - QT Pro is not needed.
