    I just completed my first conversion of a dvd to divx and the resulting file doesn't have an extension listed with it. Is it somehow an understood .avi extension? I used VirtualDub for the compression with Divx low-motion.

    You can rename the file with a ".avi" . just add the extension at the end.

    rename the file and just type (filename).avi and it should turn into your avi file.
