I was wondering if there was a (preferably freeware) program out there that would capture audio from a DVD source. I have a DVD and wanted to rip the audio specifically from the menu. Is there a way to accomplish this? Either wav or mp3 format is preferable.

There is the long winded, purist version - rip with Decrypter, demux with rejig, convert with ffmpeggui

or the quick and dirty - play in PowerDVD or similar and record at the same time in Audacity

  3. Get the DVD on the hard drive using DVD Decrypter in File Mode (default). Open the IFO containing the menus in PGCDemux, tick PGC Selection->Domain->Menus, choose the menu you want from the dropdown box, check only the audio, and Process. That will give you the audio for one specific menu. Convert using BeSweet or HeadAC3he. That's very similar to guns1inger's method.

Alternatively and much faster, decrypt only the Menu Vob by highlighting only it in DVD Decrypter. Open that Vob in DGIndex. If you want all the audio for all the menus, then File->Save Project, which will give you the audio automatically. Or if you want the audio for only 1 menu, use the "[" and "]" buttons to isolate it before saving the project. Or get the whole thing and cut it later. You can also set it to Decode to WAV audio if you wish (Audio->Output Method->Decode AC3 Track to WAV).
