i recorded a couple of movies scheduled one after the other. i came home and prepared to view the movies. i checked the folder and found one large mpg file ( i capture to full D1). Curious i tried to play the file but it would not play in media player or cyberlink. i tried to load the file into tmpgenc dvd author and i got a pop up saying i am denied access. so now i restart the computer and guess what ? the file disappears. i mean gone completely. i am upset because the movies don't come around very often. anyone have this happen to them. What gives ?

Sounds like the files were still in use. I expect your recording software experienced a malfunction and did not write the file, what you were seeing was most likely the temp recording file...hence the reason you were denied access.
It could be a software glitch or depending your HD format (FAT32 or NTFS), you may have hit a file size limit.Google is your Friend
