Some additional info may be required: -
    - What kind of video file (codecs)?
    - What do you use to try and watch this file?
    - What kind of Macs with what OS and software (versions)?

  3. I have a look at the properties of the film (in the computer i can open it right of course) in QT, and it says DivX 5.0

Then i go to System Preferences/DivX, and Im not registered neither i can download updates (cos it says there isnt anyone) in both computers.

Computer where i can open the file: 10.3.9
Computer where i cant open the file: 10.4.7

No obvious reason there yet. What is the exact error message that you get on the Mac that won't play it?

Check inside Macintosh HD > Library > QuickTime on the Mac that does play the movie. Copy the codecs (that aren't on the other Mac) to the Mac that doesn't play. Restart.
