  1. I'm looking for tools in OSX for conversion of VOB to MPEG2, video and audio.

I've tried FFMPEGX but I haven't been able to successfully encode a VOB to MPEG2.

VOB is a container, containing mpeg1 or 2 video, audio tracks in either PCM, mp2, AC3 or DTS streams, subtitle and BOV subpictures, navigation markers etc. In short, all the bits that make up a DVD.

What you need isa tool for OSX to demux the streams (video and audio) from the VOB. Trying to encode the VOB to mpeg2 is a needless waste of energy and a reduction in quality.

There is a section dedicated to MAC tools in the Tools area. Have a look there.

A quick glance found these possibles

  3. Thanks. Do you happen to know what version of AVIDEMUX I would need for OSX 10.2.8? The newest version will not launch, it just crashes. Maybe there is a previous version supporting 10.2.8.
