Hi,

I am quite new to Vegas (v6d) but have a project which requires me to use it. My sources are mpeg program streams and i am rendering to WMV.

Now what i am finding is that with some mpegs, they play in sync in WMP/MPC but when I drop them in Vegas and play them in the preview window they are out of sync. Yet when render to WMV they are in sync again!

So for me it would seem that being in or out of sync in the preview is no guarentee that it rendered output will be in sync.

Now i can a adjust the merits of my codecs and get the same out of sync issue in WMP with the source (i.e if i choose the mainconcept codecs). And i can use my prefered codecs again and get good sync in WMP.

So the main question is: Does Vegas only use the mainconcept decoder for mpegs (in terms of adding to the timeline/preview and for its source to the encoder)? Does it ignore the other mpeg2 decoders i have installed or can i set it up to use my prefered codecs (that maintain sync)?

Additional info: I can process the files in "Movie Maker" or Windows Media Encoder and it would seem that they use the directshow filters properly (according to their merit) and so the source/preview and rendered WMV are in sync (if i don't use mainconcept).
