  1. I have captured .avi whithin Video Studio 4 and the quality of it is excelelnt, sound and video alike. I use TMPEGEnc to encode to Mpeg2 but the sound quality is lacking a lot, as it comes out sounding tinny. Is there any reason why this would be happening? Are there any settings for the templatethat i should set to avoid this?

    Cheers,

  2. Are you listening to both avi and mpg files with same playback system and/or software? When you capture the vid, is the audio set for 48kHz, 16 bit, stereo? Are you using the standard TMPGEnc template, or did you make changes?

  3. Yeah listening to both avi and mpeg under media player. I use Video Studios dv Pal capture template which is 720x576, 25 fps, DV Type1, interleave audio for every 1 frames, PCM, 48000kHz, 16 bit, stereo. I use the DVD pal template supplied with the TMPEgen 2.5. only thin i have adjusted, and this was because i got bad sound in the first place, is the audio bitrate, which doesnt seem to help. The video is using CBR up to 8000. Anyone know of any sites which can help with adjusting such settings. The guide here doesnt really go to much into it.

  4. I have some problem before. TmpgEnc can change the audio of DV to mpg correctly (48K or 32K to 44.1K).

However, TmpgEnc can add a external converter (environmental setting, sampling rate converter). You can download a "SSRC audio converter" for it.

I found that the external sampling frequency convertor SCMPX.EXE solves this problem with the "tinny" sound. It takes a bit longer because it needs to first rip out the wave and then convert it using this program, but the sound quality is exelent. Just add this to your TMPGenc environmental settings under "external sampling frequency convertor".
