This problem seemed to start just after I removed Norton interset security and replaced it with Bitdefender 9 and Zonealarm.

When using outlook express to send an email which is roughly a meg or so and above in size it always stalls at a certain point and then the message 'your SMPT server or something hasnt responded in 60 seconds, wait ot cancel' (or something to that effect).

Now if I keep pressing wait sometimes it goes through and other times it could be stuck forever.

Now the strange part is even though when it fails and I cancel, the recipient always gets the email! It doesnt show in my sent items and is back in the outbox.

It is getting very annoying as this email is also used for business and I can never be sure if my email goes through and it just a plain old pain in the butt.

    Any suggestions?

Compress the files using Winrar or Winzip. If the file is too big, you could try to compress it in multiple volumes and send it in separated e-mails.

The optimum way to transfer files is by using FTP, but you need to setup a server and assign an ID and password to avoid people abusing it with pr0n.

Another option is trying with other e-mail clients for sending the files, or just upgrading Outlook to a newer version and see if that solves the problem.
