  1. Hi guys, I haven't backed up any of my dvds for about a year now. I used to use decrypter and shrink for every step, but then when decrypter was taken away I stopped. I have now got many more dvd's that need backing up. I would like to know if there is any new software out there.
    Cheers.

  2. RipIt4Me is quite good, and can handle the latest protections. Good luck.

[EDIT] BTW, DVDDecrypter isn't dead, RipIt4Me uses it, in conjunction with a PSL (Protected Sectors List). It Also uses FixVTS to ensure a correct, playable structure. Very clever program.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

Click on DVD decrypter in your post and you will be taken to the Tools page for it. Click on the Mirror Download link and you will find a site where you can get the last version.

From what I've been reading, DVDFab Decrypter (not the same thing as the DVD-Decrypter people have been discussing here) can also tackle just about anything. I have used it to read home-made discs that were badly scratched (it is a decent data-recovery tool as well as a ripper) but I have not tried backing up commercial discs. Like Ripit4me, it is free, but it does not depend on external utilities, and is "one-click" from disc to hard drive, though you'll need an external compression program if you want to shrink your DVDs to fit onto DVD-5s.
