OK, I've been doing some looking around, and I can't seem to find it. How to rip a DVD to a single VOB on OS X? I'd then use the VOB with ffmpegX to make iPod video (640 pixels wide).

Thanks, but that just gives the main feature, in a bunch of separate vobs. Is there a way of creating one massive vob to encode with ffmpegX, as a single movie file?

IIRC, the newer versions of MTR have this feature under Title-Chapter Extraction.

Oh, I see. You must mean the 3.0 beta of MacTheRipper. Unfortunately, I only have 2.66.

However, I'm not sure if I'm using ffmpegX right, so it may be moot anyway. I tried using ffmpegX to transcode (with the 640w setting for the iPod) another .vob file I had.

It didn't work. I got an empty file, in one second. Anyone having similar troubles?
