    Hello everyone.

I've a computer that has a Light Scribe maker or something like that.

My question is: how do I use light scribe in my DVD's, I know I need to buy the right DVD's otherwise it won't work, but do I need any program.
    Does my recording program works?

    Thank so much.

We don't know WHAT RECORDING PROGRAM you have. Can't read mind, yet!

Go ahead, open it up, look for lightscribe, it won't bite, or blow up, promise!

If need more software, go to www.lightscribe.com.

Yes, you need special LS discs, which are expensive, and software that will burn them. After burning a DVD you need to flip it over and stick it back in the drive to do the LS burn. The general opinion from what I've seen and read is that LS is expensive and produces poor quality - generally not much better than gray-scale.

Although anything is better than using sticky labels - sticky labels are a great way to wreck your DVDs - if you want good quality, look into inkjet printing and using inkjet-printable discs. If you burn a lot, the lower cost of the inkjet-printable discs might even offset the cost of the special printer and ink, compared with Lightscribe.

  4. I use the Casio CW50 on regular discs.
The TDK 8x +R are the best to print with, there are lines in these disk that makes
it very easy to align right.

This is a ******* revelation to me, that u can write lightscribe on regular discs. If this means I don't have to use my ugly-ass handwriting on my discs, I'm buying a lightscribe burner right now!
    Can anyone confirm this?

That's a label CD/DVD Thermal Printer - prints on a regular CD/DVD but has nothing to do with LightScribe.

@raffie - the Casio CW50 is a thermal printer. You can't use a lightscribe on standard discs.

PTsniper you can donwload LightScribe API and a free labeler from here: http://www.lightscribe.com

I’m using LightScribe 16x Verbatim blanks. These disks are version 1.2. In my PC I installed in LighScribe API 1.4.105.1.

To burn the labels, I’m using Nero cover designer 2.3.1.3 (came with Nero 6.6.1.4). I also use SureThing CD labeler 4 SE (ver. 4.3.0192).

My burner is an LG GSA-4166B firmware 1.02.

I have burned several LightScribe disks and I have never obtained the results you show in the picture.

Real labels have low contrast and the label itself seems washed out even when using the best quality (30 minutes burn).

LightScribe is similar to the old Yamaha disk T@2 technology.

A friend of mine uses the Casio CW75 which is the "big" brother of the CW50 because it can be used without a computer (has a tiny keyboard on it and a lil LCD screen like on a calculator). The CW50 has no such "extras" and is just a printer that needs a computer hook-up.

He only prints simple TEXT only titles but it looks very professional. He uses the Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R discs from RIMA.COM which have a "shiny silver" blank top to them.

Wish I had one as I tend to put my DVDs in a case with artwork and not label or more often just use a CD/DVD safe sharpie marker (but my penmenship skills aren't so great).

    P.S.
My friend's DVD discs look just like the sample provided by tonyp12 except my friend doesn't use such large bold text. I've been tempted to buy one myself but everytime I think about blowing $100 on a printer when I can just use a sharpie marker ... call me cheap but I'd rather use the $100 buying more blank discs LOL.

You got it. LightScribe will never looks as sharp as the example in the picture. Not at least with current coating. This may improve in the future...
