  1. Hello, I have a dual core CPU and I use Divx 6.2 for encoding, I was wonderring if there is a way to make it use only 1 CPU so I can do other things while its encoding... right now, the only option for choosing an encoder (for any program) is "DivX 6.2.0 Codec (2 Logical CPUs)"... but I only want it to use one...

    Thank you!

  2. Bring up Task Manager (Alt+Ctrl+Del), go to the Processes tab, select the encoder process, right click on it, select Set Affinity, set CPU you want.

That said, Divx is not very effecient at using both CPUs (there's always lots of CPU cycles left) so you shouldn't be seeing any system slowdown problems. You can always use Task Manager to set the encoder process priority to Low.

Could also switch to XviD. In the options you can set the threads to 1. Not using the PC and want faster encoding? Just set it to 2.

Sounds like DXN maybe have two seperate binaries (where the installer detects the number of cores and copies the correct file). If so you could extract the other one from the installer and replace the dual core dll (after backing up). Might also be possible to manually install and have both.
