The first burner I had came with Roxio which I didn't like at all, and I suggest switching to Nero 6.6 which is only $5 at http://www.pricewatch.com/software_multimedia/265094-1.htm and then downlad latest updates from Nero site. That's what I did 5 or 6 years ago, and have been very pleased ever since. Note it's very important to uninstall Roxio before installing Nero because they are very incompatible.

  3. Well, the 129 version seems to be working. When the Pioneer version comes out are you suggesting I flash to that?

And if you know what you are doing, how do you flash back to an earlier version. Be interested in learning how to do that.

  4. The problem is you will not be able to re flash to an earlier version once you update tp 1.29 it seals off the code to reflash. If it is working then leave it be and just download the new release and flash again with 1.29. I took a chance and upgraded to 1.29 and Sony's are still being turned into coasters just wasted one more today.

    Sorry to hijack this thread.
My 111D was working previously but since upgrade to newer version of ITunes I'm getting 4200 error. Can't burn any purchases or backup iTunes library.

    here's an explanation -
    http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?p=192226

cyrano02 - you might want to try the 111L v8.19 to 8.26 flash before going back. more features and it's a good burning update.

To cross flash to 111L get 111L 8.19 INT and 8.26 INT from http://tdb.rpc1.org/index.htm. Flash first with 8.19 which does actual cross flash to 111L, and 8.26 flashes to latest version.

From the intro on top of the page:

If you get the offsite page or "phpBB : Critical Error - Could not connect to the database" you have a (http) referer problem, do not email about this.

did you flash the drive with tdb 111L internal 8.19* firmware first? if you didn't that's the problem, you'll have to flash it with that firmware first before you use tdb 111L internal 8.26. make sure you download the correct tdb 111L 8.19 that has the * .

flash with tdb 111L internal 8.19* then reboot pc. then flash with tdb 111L internal 8.26 and reboot pc.

I think you have made 2 critical errors here. The first was jumping into an existing thread dealing with cross-flashing a Pioneer 111D to a 111L which has nothing to do with your problem. The second is not providing enough information for people to help you.

    I'm guessing here but..........................

I assume you are attempting to burn an audio cd out of iTunes and probably are getting an error similar to this:

"The attempt to burn a disc has failed. An unknown error has occurrred (4200).

There is info involving this at the DELL Community forums. You'll have to signup before you can search (I think). Search on iTunes and 4200 error. I would suspect your problem is iTunes software. Would suggest uninstall then reinstall iTunes. Remove upper/lower filters. See link here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B314060&x=12&y=13

Good luck. If my assumption above is not correct - Please start a new thread detailing your specific issues. Thanks

Does anyone else with the drive ever have this happen? It starts burning a DL disc at 6.0x from 0 to about 10%. It then drops down to 0x, stays there for a few seconds, then shoots up to 8.0x and continues burning.

The end product has a slightly darker ring about a quarter of the way from the center of the disk, but disc scans are nearly flawless.

  28. Sorry - was not intended as a reprimand.

I'm pretty sure no one picked up on the 4200 error in reference to burning in iTunes. Anyway - hopefully that poster detailing this over at the Dell Forums can help. The screen name of the guy with all the info is called Predator and the link to his site is:

    http://www.the-predator.com/

    Good luck.

It is normal for the drive to spin down before it changes speed from 6x to 8x. This is often more noticeable on DL media. Should pose no problems.
