    Hay guys, I’ve having a really hard time undersanding any Video Capturing because im a video noob =( and find the info that im looking for.
    My goal is to backup some important VHS tapes onto DVD. Im wondering if somebody can point me in a direction that can help me even a little because I’ve been sleep deprived the last 3 nights after buying this video card trying to get the VIVO to work! I’ve given up trying to use the VCR because im not 100% sure if I should or shoudlnt be seeing nothing if I don’t play with the VCR settings, but that’s an easy thing to do if I know the video input to my PC works!

    Ok here are the stats;
    Leadtek Winfast A250 Ultra TD 128mb nVidia GeForce4 Ti4600 MyVIVO Edition
    (Reading from the Box)
    I have 512Mb RAM, a Celeron 2.4ghz, enough HDD space and a DVD Burner.
    I have installed the latest ForceWare Drivers from nVidia for my GFX card and have also installed “2.13_wdm-vivo.exe” (WDM drivers that I don’t know what they do but they are installed fine)

    And the process;
    Start Windows
    Start Virtual VCR
    Turn On Playstation (or VCR, or DVD player or HandyCAM)
    Black Screen in Preview Box
    A.
    Open Settings -> Video -> Device Settings:
    (I’ve tried ALL the PAL and NTSC standards)
    “Signal Detected 1”
    “Lines Detected 625”
    Output Enable -> Checked
    No Filters are checked
    Black Screen in Preview Box
    B.
    Open Settings -> Devices -> Device Seelection:
    Video - “nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal)
    Video Source - “Video Composite”
    Black Screen in Preview Box

    Most of the time when I try to open Windows Movie Maker or Fx Vid Cap my computer reboots automatically so I stopped the auto reboot on system crash thing and the blue screen tells me its n4_mini.sys that caused it, but I guess that’s another story.
    I have the 3 RCA cables going from the back of the Playstation, I am not recording audio yet because the video isnt working, so I have the Yellow RCA cable plugged into the IN extention/conversion cable thingy that came with the card that goes to the S-Video-like looking hole in the back of the card.
    The Leadtek site is about as useful as a concrete leg and google is providing me with nothing relavent!
    I’ve read countless posts that arent related like things about macrovision and sooo many pointless reads about external boxes or tv tuner cards and things like, “you plug this cord into this and you can now record, so open up your capture software” … but they miss the troubleshooting out!!! grrr im getting really stressed up and yeah, ill shhhhhhh now, so pleasseee if you can, HELP ME!!!

    (P.S. if I were to format my PC could any1 please provide me with step by step details on drivers/capture software and settings - are nVidia GFX drivers and nVidia WDM drivers all I need? to make sure things are done right, thanks!)

    Before reformatting your drive, when you are trying to preview the video input, is there something playing from your source generating a signal to the card? if you do the hookups and play a disc/tape/etc., you will likely get something to show up.

    Other than that, check the disc that came with the card - one of the utils on the CD has the capture program you have to use to properly initialize video playback/capture.

    Good Luck!

    Try using WMD drivers that match the date of that card:
    http://www.planetmirror.com/pub/nvidia/Windows/WDM/?fl=n
    You might have to use a version of the main driver that is compatible with this. This site has some from the same time period if you select "Windows" where this is shown: home > nvidia > Windows > WDM. I have a gf4200ti with vivo that works great with the 1.08 WMD driver and 40.72 main driver (1.08 is the best since later revs detect macrovision). I use virtualdub with it, give it a try to see if it works any better. As for settings, I'm a NTSC user so I really can't be much help. Good Luck.
