  1. Seems every single time I extract a file VirtualDubMod will still get the same error when I try to load it...

    You haven't given us much to go on. I've found VirtualDubMod doesn't work well with MKV files in general. It's also possible that your MKV has an H.264 video stream. VirtualDubMod can't open this stream directly, you have to use a kludge to put it in an avi container, and even then it may not work.

    For files like this, skip the MKVExtract and try loading the file into MediaCoder. I have had good success converting these kinds of MKV files with it - it succeeds where others have failed.

  5. ok... I just tried 2 do a second ago...

    Now VMD tells me it cannot detect file type (tried avi and wmv)... What file extension do I use?

    edit: looks like it might have been coded using a x264 codec... Which tells me nothing :P

    mkvextract extracts native AVC from mkv's as raw h.264 streams. The correct extension is *.264. Won't help VDubMod open it though since it doesn't support raw AVC streams... Not much does. Better to leave it as an mkv. If you want to open if in VDub, you can use directshowsource(). Even works for VFR mkv's.
