  1. I noticed that some DVD drives (not burners, just DVD readers) can read a DVD+RW (4.7Gb) disk while others can't. What does this depend on? The DVD drive (hardware) or software? Thanks.

  2. Probably a firmware update will make it read dvd+rw.

My dvd reader is old (2001) and it can't read burned discs as well as some new dvds. I need to play them in the dvd burner.

  3. It seems the DVD drive I'm planning to use does read DVD+RW's:

I thought that besides the hardware (firmware) it also depended on the way the DVD+RW was recorded (for example with Nero, or roxio, or other software)

I wonder if it would be worth it adding DVD-ROMs and combo DVD/CD-RW drives to the Lists menu for these kinds of questions.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

Well, I guess that being mainly a video forum the administrator's purpose is to include all computer related questions under one single topic.
