  3. I think she got "In power save mode, press any key on keyboard or move mouse"

Press F8 and turn on the PC, until the windows boot into safe mode, right click on desktop, in display properties, select screen saver tab, and click on [Power...], Change "Turn off monitor" to "Never", click [OK].

    Power down and re-boot.

  4. Thanx for thr help.

I told her to try that, the safe mode screen didn't showup.
do you think a bad keyboard/mouse will do that ?

I will tell her to try again when she comes back from school

  5. Look at the light on the keyboard and the red light under the mouse, to make sure they are plugged in.

I would also have your sister reseat the Video card. The cards and/or the memory may have come loose during shipping.
Some days it seems as if all I'm doing is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic

  7. Is there more than one video connection? Sounds like she is on the wrong one.

Plug it in, turn it on. KB and mouse could be completely disconnected at this point, not important. If there is no other msg that appears other than the one you have described, the monitor is not properly connected.

Ask her about beeps and their number. any more than one or two, probable the card has come loose internally.

The TI200 got only one VGA connection, and the monitor too .no DVI

I don't think she hooked the speakers up when I talked to her yesterday.I will ask her to do that today

  10. Not the card, the BOX. Is there on board video, which would provide a second video connection, which if disabled would result in this problem?

Does the video cable connect to a port on the monitor or is it hard wired?

if you read under OSD Warning Messages it said"Occasionally, no warning message appears, but the screen is blank. This could also indicate that the monitor is not synchronizing with the computer or the monitor is in a power save mode."

i told her to try " Perform monitor reset on "All Settings" she got a msg "In power save mode, press any key on keyboard or move mouse" then I told her to try "Turn the monitor off and unplug the power cord and then plug back and power on" nothing .just a the dell logo for a sec and thats it
