    Hi all:

I need to convert some of my dvd's to avi (divx).
I'm trying to follow the following guide https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1271288#1271288

The results are : or an incomplete avi file (only part of the movie)
Or the message : could not open E:video_TS:name of the movie.avi
Here's a discription of all my steps:

1-I Open file and double click on the 1st VOB file
on the source I can see the information about the file duration: 00:00:08,1 bitrate 1242 etc... etc....

    2 Target: I select = mpeg4

    3-format: PAL

4= bitrate: changed according to movie inf. 1242

    5-On video = 0
    audio= 1

Then I start adding all the other VOB files making, Batch + Add to batch.(add current command)
When all the files are added I select batch + run batch the encoding starts, but I can see the information on the DOS box that time is only 44,16 when it should be more than 2 hours !!

What am I doing wrong ??

I have only 1 doubt regarding the guide:

I dont have on the menu the option : ADD TO BATCH !! I have instead "ADD CURRENT COMMAND" dont know if it's the same !!. Maybe this is the problem ??? !!!

Someone van help me please ??.

    hilario.

    Hi

Altough i dont have a solution for your problem, can you tell me if gui4ffmpeg uses the divx5/6 codec as i think that tool uses the divx4 codec.

if you're looking for simplicity theres some other tools outhere, i use avi.Net but theres AutoGK and DRdivx2.

That program looks a bit outdated

have you tried Pgcdemux to demux the main movie to one single file and then convert that file?

you can use dvd decrypter in ifo mode aswell.

i think you should see if you're converting to divx4 as quality is lower than using xvid1.1 or divx 5 or 6.

open one of your converted files with gspot and post the screnshot here if you can

3 VOB files !!! which ones do I have to select ???
    This is my problem now.

Hi, Autogk doesnt really need to have all vob files in one, just select the ifo file. i only suggested to use pgcdemux because your avi files with ffmpeg were only partially converted

    read this guide in portuguese

    http://www.autogk.me.uk/modules.php?name=Tutorial

    hope that helps

    Tks Ricardo:

    Its done:

    And its perfect.

I will use this system from now on.

    hilario.

EDIT: I have only one doubt: Which is the right IFO file that I have to select ??
As for an example another DVD to be converted has the following IFO files:
    VTS_01_0.IFO (58 KB)
    VIDEO_TS.IFO (12 KB)

    ?????

    VTS_01_0.IFO

this might vary if you're ripping episodic dvds, it might be VTS_02 for the second episode and so on.

When ripping with DVDdecrypter click on EDIT>>>>SELECT MAIN MOVIE ONLY and it will copy just the right ifo file

    (Boa sorte nessas conversões )
