    Hi all,

I have two clips at 720x576 60 fps PNG.
What type are these files ?
How can i convert them to 720x576 25 fps ?

(or can i just use them in a PAL DV project, 25fps ?)
    Thank you

There is a good chance you will not be able to do this nicely and get a smooth result.

You effectively need to shed 1 frame in every 6, then throw away every second frame of the remaining 50. You should be able to do this with avisynth, but the results may be jerky or uneven.

  3. Open the sequence (assuming they're nicely numbered) in VirtualDubMod. Select Video -> Frame Rate. In the top portion of the dialog select "change to [60] frames per second" to let VirtualDub know the frame rate of the image sequence. In the middle box select "convert to [25] fps". Save or frameserve. This will be a little jerky. If you have matching audio it will not have to be adjusted.

Another option is to speed up the source frame rate to 62.5 then convert to 25 fps. That will be a little smoother but will play 4 percent faster. Audio will have to be similarly adjusted.

I'm confused. I thought PNG files were only single image. Are you saying these PNGs play as video? What do you play them in? Can you check them with GSpot?

  5. I assumed he meant he had a bunch of PNG files that constituted a video. VirtualDub can open a numbered sequence of image files as if they were a video file. It can also save a video file as a numbered sequence of images.

I guess it's possible he has an AVI (or other container) that uses PNG as the video codec.

    <edit>

Oh yeah, here a lossless PNG video codec:

I'll have to try it out sometime.

Video effects and CGI sequences are usually rendered as individual frames instead of video clips. This allows for small changes to be made or sequences to be restarted without having to render the whole sequence again.

    Thanks guys for the replies

They are .mov files that uses PNG as the video codec (2 Digital juice background animated movies)

I tried in Adobe Premiere under Interprete Footage to just change the frame rate to 25fps, but didn't got a good result.

I will try your suggestions and see if it will better.

    Thank you

Zoki, you're better off dropping the PNG's into a PAL Project Setting and let Adobe conform the footage to the output project...
Make it a separate sequence, or output as a separate .AVI..

There's many other ways to do this, but try this first..
