Before ffmpegX v0.0.9w r5 came out, the h.264 options set for the PSP was like this:
And now, after I switched to r5 (since h.264 stopped working for the new firmware), it now looks like this:

Is it supposed to be like that? I mean because its exactly the same options as using the MP4 PSP preset too.

What I'm really getting at is that whenever I select any options from the PSP h.264 preset, the encoded file won't work with my PSP. If I did the encoding straight off with out modifying any settings it plays just fine, but the quality isn't at the standard I want it.

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Yes, it is supposed to be like that, as I changed the engine for PSP encoding. Which option did you want to use? You should note that PSP is highly unstandard at playing h.264, and many standard h264 options will not work.

Normally I would tick all the options on the left, I don't mind the extra wait. Is there an option I should avoid? One other thing is that I like to make the bit rate around 400-500 kbit/s and the audio 192 kbit/s. Other than that, everything else is unchanged.

I'm also wondering what adding PSP atoms did before.

  4. In fact, PSP is a special case. You should use the preset "as is" without ticking any options, or it will not work. This is because of decisions implemented by PSP makers.

    Thanks for the reply.

I can't believe the PSP developers would specifically make these options not work...

  6. You are correct. They did in fact the opposite, that is, they made specifically one set of options work, and didn't care about the rest of them. In addition, there could be also hardware reasons for that.

For some reason the h.264 file never works on my psp if I put the audio bit rate to 192kbit/s.
    Why?

[EDIT]Actually it might be the only reason it doesn't work for me.
