  1. Well this is more of a question about everyones position on the subject than a question on the subject it's self. With apple release of the "iTV" (i use it in quotes becuse it's not the final name for it yet) i was thinking the next step for Apple is to upgrade iTunes to beable to rip dvds right to iPod format. Now i know most people say the movie studios will never allow it. Well i think i know of a way that they will. If when you rip any dvd to iPod format iTunes places the drm in the file. This of course means that inorder for you to be able to do this you would need and iTunes account. Also this could mean that there is 2 versions of iTunes, regular that is free and the Pro version that allows you to rip. The pro version would not be free. (I would guess it would probably cost in the neighborhood of $50). I think this is the next logical step for Apple that way people could do what they now do with their cd's to their dvd collection. My question is this: If apple does release a iTunes version that does the ripping of dvds would you be willing to pay for it? Or would you not get it even if it was free? You thoughts are also welcome.

    No.

Not an apple fan. Besides there are plenty of pay and free third party apps that can convert dvd to ipod video format so the need isn't that great.

And besides there are plenty of media extenders out there that apparently do everything the itv is supposed to. I even read a cnet article talking about how well the XBOX 360 does what the itv is supposed to do. So Apple is a little late to this particular game it seems...
