"According to the EFF, the new Zune portable media player from Microsoft won't play files infected with the old Microsoft DRM. It seems that all of the 'PlaysforSure' media that has been sold and is currently being sold will not play on the Zune. In addition, Microsoft has now advocated violating the DMCA in order to transfer files to the player. Microsoft Zune architect J Allard was quoted as saying there's 'Lots of DVD ripping software out there that encodes to those formats, so the most popular formats out there, whether it's MPEG-4 or H.264, we'll support those.'"

    Good.
When big boys start advocating violation of DMCA, it sure is the obvious sign that DMCA is and was wrong since inception. It will become dead law even faster this way. F*cking RIAA will be left alone in the end (if it surivives that long).

Im sure Apple will pretty soon release some ipod 2.0 with bigger screen etc specs, matching or surpassing zune.

    BTW
After few trips last year I noticed one funny thing:
nowhere else in the world people use those stupid DRM-ed gaypods etc as in the mighty US of A. Not in Asia (China, HK, Taiwan, India), not in Europe (from Spain to Poland) and not in Australia.
Are American teens really so dumb? :P

"DRM Infected" I love how language can be used to make a point. To bad I'd get in trouble for that phrase at work.

Apple is American. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.
    His name was MackemX

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

    Zune wireless: worthless (for now)
    http://hardware.slashdot.org/hardware/06/10/03/1238217.shtml

The best part with a comment from slashdot

You can send and receive image files for 'unlimited viewing.' (Oh, so copyrighted images aren't worth DRMing?) You can't: Connect to the internet, Download songs directly from the Zune store via WiFi, Sync to your computer via WiFi.

DRM is only of interest to Corporations if
    A. It earns them money
    B. It costs them money

If Corporation X impliments a DRM system which excludes Corporation Y, then Corporation Y will scream "restriction of fair trade" (i.e. keeping our noses out of the gravy), meanwhile pushing their own exclusive DRM system (i.e. keeping their nose and ONLY their nose in the gravy).
If you think of modern Corporations like fat greedy bullying but also cowardly kids in a playground you'll be pretty close to Corporation morality and mentality.

    its worse.
you could always bring your older brother to the playground and enjoy watching shit being kicked out of that fat bullying bastard... with corporations there is absolutely NOTHING to do since they are not living entities (although they have such status in the eye of US laws - how stupid, again only in America...).
    even worse.
YOU even might be yourself a shareholder of such corporation (indirectly) without your knowledge whatsoever...
