I clearly wasn't thinking. My DVP5960/37 would previously connect to my video iPod with no problems. However after y'day's automatic update (to iPod 1.2) the DVD player cannot longer see it.

Is anybody experiencing the same problem?

    Thanks,
    MV

Hey. You could try downgrade your iPod. I bought the dvdplayer, and my iPod (v. 1.2) didn't work with it, so I downgraded it to v. 1.1.1 and now it works.

I'm not sure I can give links etc. how to do it, since it involves using a program to "hack" the iPod (hack isn't exactly the right word, you just allow it to "upgrade" it to a lower version). But you could pm me or send me an email ( ellkay at gmail dot com ) and I'll tell you what to do.

I am also having the same problem.

It doesn't seem many people uses their Ipods to play movies on the DVP5960. For is my main USB hard drive.

Would upgrading the firmware on the DVD player help any? I really do not want to downgrade my Ipod Firmware but if that is what is needed I will do that.

    Anyone?

    Hi!

Sorry for bumping an old post, but I figured out a way to use the iPod with DVP5960 WITHOUT downgrading firmware.

It's kind of an obvious way, don't know why I didn't think about it earlier. Just boot your iPod to DISK MODE by holding menu+select for about 10 seconds, then as soon as it reboots, hold select+play, and it will boot into Disk Mode. Now it will work with the dvd-player.

It's a but more to do everytime you connect it, but at least it's a sollution that works.

And you DON'T have to downgrade the iPod!

Also, I guess people who bought the latest iPods will be able to use this as well (those who have the 1.2 firmware as default).

    Hope this helps!

    I just got a DVP-5960/37, and a new iPod nano 8gb.

The first thing I did when I took the ipod out of the box was copy a divx movie to it via windows explorer, that I had previously verified worked on the dvp 5960. Then went to connect it to the dvp, and it said "device not supported".

I've tried in disk mode and in regular mode, but both say the same thing. It appears to be fat32.

My DVP firmware is at version 37.06.42.29 out of the box. I looked for updates, but it seems like that's current as far as official updates go.

The strange thing is, the ipod is brand spankin new, but when I connect to iTunes, it says the software version is 1.1.1 (is this also the firmware version, or where can I find that?), and when I click on the ipod it doesn't even have an update for me. Even restoring factory defaults I'm still at 1.1.1. So I'm not sure if apple recalled 1.2 or what happened, but all I can get is 1.1.1.

Disk mode doesn't work and the dvp doesn't detect it. I need help!

    Thanks,
    `John
