Add English subtitles?

i have 2 IFO files called Video_TS.IFO and VTS_01_1.IFO and i have VTS_01_1.VOB - VTS_01_4.VOB files. I also have the subtitles which is in two parts. In the movie setup, it only has Spanish subtitles you can either turn them off or on, you can't choose other language cos it must be a Spanish DVD. it contains English and Spanish Audio you have a choice there.

I don't know which the the correct guide it right for me to add English subtitles, and maybe remove the Spanish subtitles completely and change the subtitles option to the English on or off Subtitles.

It tried 'How to add your own subtitles to DVD' guide. Did not work and subtitles won't show, still shows spanish version.

Would u recommend me to use the adding subtitled using DVDlab?

You have to get English subtitles from somewhere before you can add them. You can't just convert Spanish subtitles to English and watch them that way.

Then try them in Subtitle Workshop or such to make sure they sync properly.

When it does, reauthor the whole thing.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't know the guide you followed (no link), and I have no idea what you've done or tried so far. Here's how I'd do it:

Demux everything using PGCDemux. Reauthor in Muxman, replacing the Spanish subs with the English subs. Muxman takes subs in SUP format. I couldn't make out whether or not you have them in SUP format, but you seemed to say so. After reauthoring and testing to make sure you have English subs (don't worry about the colors), open the original DVD in VobBlanker and use the "Replace" button to replace the original DVD with the Spanish subs, with your newly reauthored DVD with the English subs. Process, and if wanted, open the final DVD in PGCEdit to change the language name from ES to EN.

Deaf Raiders - You followed the correct guide, but if you still see the Spanish subtitles, you didn't follow it correctly. I have used this guide multiple times to replace foreign subtitles with English ones and re-author the DVD and it always works. What you need to do is remux with the English subtitles in place of the Spanish subs. If you are still seeing the Spanish subs, you either didn't replace the Spanish subs or you just added the English ones and don't realize that there won't be a menu entry if you add and don't replace. What you need to do from a simplicity standpoint is just replace the Spanish subs with the English ones. Then when you select the "Spanish" subs from the menu, you'll get the English ones. Yes it is possible to just add extra subtitles, but I don't recommend that to inexperienced users as it may just lead to trouble.

Yes, that's a good guide. Keeping the Spanish subs, and adding the English ones to go with them isn't that hard. It requires just one extra step. If that's what you did (2 subs, instead of just the 1 Spanish ones), all you have to do is to "turn on" the English ones. That easy process is explained clearly in a post further down from the guide:

PGCEdit has changed a bit since he wrote that. After "Set"ting the new English subs, OK your way out to the main screen, find the green reel of film in the row of icons across the top, click on it, and it will give you a message about the number of sub streams having changed. Say "Yes", and then add "en" as the language for the new sub. OK, Save, and Test.

I done it i haven't edit the menu yet, but theres 2 small problems with the subtitles. They are spilt in two parts and half way thru the 1st one they are off sync.

Also when i used PGCdemux to convert it PGC into 2 parts because thats what the movie is.I had to choose both of them. the subtitles and the sound goes off when it goes to the second a half way thru how can u join the sound and the subtitles for the movie?

And lasty there is no option to put the chapters in muxman?

The rest of it concerns problems about which we don't have much information. So, these subs didn't come with the video? You got them somewhere else? Didn't you say earlier they were in synch?

You don't need to join them. You can adjust the audio delay to get the audio back in synch. You can get the subs back in synch using DVDSubEdit. In addition, I'm having trouble making out your problem as your English writing skills are sorely lacking. And these are problems for a different guide. Good luck.

the reason that my english skills is different because my first language is BSL (British Sign Language) because, i am deaf f my dad was reading it, what am typeing at the mo. He would happy translate it to english language and would understand what i am saying

OK, but I don't think it's going to help. Open the vobs from the first half in DGIndex. Add to them the vobs from the second half. Then you'll have the whole movie opened in DGIndex. Go File->Save Project. In addition to giving you a D2V Project file, you'll get the audio all nicely joined together.

Your pic shows 3 PGCs in the one VTS, so you may have to use DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode to get the vobs for the 2 parts of the movie, leaving out whatever's in that first PGC.

There are many ways to re-sync subtitles. You can for instance use SubtitleWorkshop to fix it. You need to know:

* When does the problem begin - which is the first sub that needs new timings?
* How much does it need to be changed?
* Which is the last sub that needs to be changed?
* How much does the last sub need to be changed?

Use the "Advanced subtitle adjust" option described in the manual, item 2.2.4, about how to do it.

Another way is to use the sync-function in SubtitleCreator and make multiple links to the Spanish subs that you have (provided they are correct of course).
