    Hi there,
So far, using ffmpegX on my Mac has been great. Only now I have this problem I cannot fix with a matroska file.

I am trying to convert a h264 mkv-file to xvid avi using the xvid-ffmpeg encoder. Encoding the video is no problem, but the audio track is impeding progress. The original has 5-channel dts audio.
It does not matter which output I select. Leaving the audio track "0" in the audio tab will always lead to this error in the progress log:
"Unsupported codec (id=86021) for input stream #0.1"
When I put the audio track to 1, it would give me this:
"Could not find input stream #0.2" Same goes for the rest of the tracks.

Does anyone know a way around this problem? Thanks,
    nickelvd

    Maybe recompile with --enable-dts
    Also need libdts/libdca installed.

  3. (1) Not all encoders support Matroska. ffmpeg doesn't. I don't remember which one works as I experimented all the encoders with Matroska several month ago. I think it's mencoder.

    (2) It will be easier if you use MKVToolnix.

There is an MKVExtract GUI available on Mac here.

If the ffmpeg engine doesn't seem to support DTS audio, try with the mencoder engine. Does the mkv file play fine with the mplayer preview of ffmpegX ?
