Do you mean your controller are missing or just the channel selection for DMA, etc. Some controllers don't list them that way. They let the OS set the mode. But you may get more answers in the Computer forum. Moving you.

Uninstall the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, reboot into Windows, Windows will reinstall. All should be Ok Then..

  9. OK i found it, well kinda, it was under Unknown at the bottom of the Device Manager and when i opened that up it was something like PCI primary bus controller. i forget exactly what it was called but it had the options to change from PCI to DMA. NOW there's the other problem i found! It was in DMA mode and the DVD drive is burning at 4x and its a 16x drive. So now i gotta figure out what would cause the drive to not burn at the correct speed. I checked the drive itself and it give the option to record at 16x.
    IM STUCK!

The 4X-16X problem may be the media. Besides being 16X media, it also has to be compatible with the burner. IOW, the burner has to 'recognize' the brand and speed of the media. And of course, your burning software needs to be set to the higher speed.
