I curretly have 3 versions of tmpgenc on my system.
One of the 3 (the oldest beta 12a) will read my DV avi files. The latest version (2.02) off of the web site does not, nor
    does version (2.00)

    I get the following error...
Also, the old version of the program was free, and the new
ones give me 30 days, but I don't see how to buy it on
    the web site.

any help would be great, thanks.

  2. You may want to look at VFAPI Plugins under environmental settings (option menu) of your newer versions. There may be a plugin in the old version that is not in the newer version, or the priority may be lower on the plug-in needed to read the DV file. Play around with the priorites and such to see if you can get your file to open.

Currently there is no way to purchase TMPGEnc. The creator had to add the 30 day "trial" period to keep the MPEG2 people (not sure who that is) happy. It was either that or start charging for it - some licensing fee I think. Usually a new version comes out around the time they start to expire. Just hang on to that 12a version for those in-between days.

It is a great program and I will gladly purchase it when it does become a commercial product.

this will renew the 30 days Just go to your registry (run regedit) , go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ , and delete this key:{63902277-B101-4049-8B46-C24B67E155E5} . It will give you 30 more days to try out the program before you have to delete that key again

Ok, I've got it figured out. The problem is that the new version uses a VFAPI plugin that
reads avi2. This new plug-in cannot read DV-1 files. I had to disable this so that the
standard direct show plug-in could kick in.

thanks for the info, it's cool to hear back on a forum for a change.
