    Is there a difference in quality before you finalize as opposed to after you finalize?

    I dont quite understand the question.

    Do you mean finalize the DVD when burning?

    If you do then all this does is finalizes the disc,ready for playback and hasn't anything to do with the quality of the video.Quality is to do with the encoding/transcoding software and settings.
