  1. I have a movie with the following specs on my HD. I would like to watch on a standalone DVD player:

    699mb File
    .avi format
    720 x 352 (w/h)
    Audio: MPEG Layer-3
    23 Frames/Second
    96 kpbs Data Rate
    24 Bit video Sample Size
    DIVX Video Compression

What would you recommend I do with this to be able to watch it on a DVD player? I can't imagine I can just burn the file to a CDR and play it in a player?

I would like to keep the quality as is (if possible) on the standalone. It is VERY high quality... Thanks in advance.

Well that resolution wouldn't work well with svcd so you should do either a vcd or an xvcd if your dvd player can handle it.

The easiest way would be to use TMPGenc but you'll need to uncompress your audio first. In virtual dub load your divx and click file/save wav. Use this for your audio in TMPGenc and use the divx file for your video. Load the ntsc vcd template. If you want to create a vcd simply hit encode. If you want an xvcd then load the unlock template and raise the bitrate either as high as your dvd player can handle or to fill as many cdrs as your willing to use. The xvcd will preserve more of the quality of the original divx but it will still be significantly lower quality. Divx does not convert well to vcd or svcd.
