    Good Day,

I know that there is an enourmous amount of post addressing some of my questions. However,
due to the excessive amount of discussions on each post; the answers become difficult to
follow or understand. At times, confusion is added to a simple question.

I am very new to video editing. I would appreciate easy to follow suggestions and tools
I can use to accomplish what I want to do. You can recommend shareware, freeware and
commercial products, including DVD Lab Pro and Adobe Premiere. Please keep it simple so
that I and others can follow. You might be an expert on video production, but I am not.

My goal is to rip the video/audio to my PC's hard disk. Edit the video; author the edited
    video and burn a DVD.

I want to edit a DVD-R recorded and finalized on my Panasonic home recorder. I want to
basically remove all commercials. Yes, I can edit the video/audio directly using the
Panasonic recorder, but it is time consuming using small buttons on the remote control.

I already know how to rip the video/audio from the DVD-R to the hard disk of my PC.
What tools can I use to remove the commercials or unwanted material before I
author a new DVD and burn it?

    Scenario 1:

If the DVD-R has two shows (the second show follows the first), how can I split the
video/audio to place the second show on its own DVD when burning time comes? The
video/audio for the second show do not have its own set on files on the DVD-R.
As an added bonus, how can I add a simple menu to display the name of the show?

What if the DVR-R has two shows on it, but each show has its own video/audio set of files
on the DVD-R? When you play the DVD on a home recorder you see two separate shows you can
    select from.

    Scenario 2:

A DVD-RAM disc contains four separately recorded shows. When you play the DVD-RAM on a
home recorder with DVD-RAM capability you see four separate shows you can select from.
How would you create four different segments to edit, add a simple menu with the name of
the show, re-author and burn the four shows to a single DVD-R? Or to its own DVD-R if it
    is easier.

I have experimented a little with TMPGEnc Author. I can edit and add a menu for each show.
I am not using chapters; however, when I play the DVD on a home player there is a small gap
where I removed the commercials or the unwanted material. If I remove the commercials or
unwanted material directly on the Panasonic home recorder before copying the show from the
Panasonic hard disk to the DVD-R, there is no pause in the video/audio when playing the
    finalized DVD-R.

    Your expertise is greatly appreciated!

    Edwin
