    Need a little help, I would like to know how to make a scrolling text message and
    burn it to a CD or DVD to be played on a standalone DVD player connected to a TV ?

    There is a shareware program called BluffTitler that should give you what you want. There are lots of video editing programs that give you the same functionality, but at a cost.

    Layers and lighting. this sounds like features available from OPEN GL.
