I recently had a family wedding edited by a shop that I have used over the past years when I was in the era of Sony hi-8 and super 8 cameras and doing the lesser challenges of editing on my own sony editor, however would take it to this shop to get some of my tapes done more professionally when need be.

I recently bought a panasonic mini dv pv-gs300 and haven't started doing any editing yet as I am busy doing video conversions to dvd with my Hauppauge unit for the present.

So I took it to the same shop with the same owner and he removed a couple of glitches, nothing more as it was the first time I used the unit. He transferred the 3 mini dv's to 3 R-dvd's, although I mentioned to him that I always use Verbatim or Sony brands of R+ as they are readily available and my Benq ext 162I and my Sony drx UL810 burn well on them as I use bit setting for DVD ROM.

Anyway, my one notebook that I went to copy the home movies onto R+ with Nero refused to accept the R- to R+ burn, it would read and not burn. I tried Nero, my edition is 6.6.6.0 and then I tried it on my bro's acer notebook with his Nero Ultra Edition 7 and still the same problem. Both external burners the Benq and the Sony and both internal burners would read the R- source disk and then when I went to write to the R+ the trays would open and I would get a message indicating that I needed to insert R- Media.

I left the project and took it to my software tech who tried it on 2 of his computers and same thing with the Corporate Nero 7 that he always uses.

So I got home and decided to try my 1 Click dvd Copy and it produced an R+ fine???
Does anyone know why this one program would burn an R- to an R+ without an issue?
I should say that I tried Slysoft's Clone DVD and it would not work either.

I would appreciate your comments very much. BTW, I should say that the R- Media was TyG02 2.4x,4x,8x,12x,16x; I don't know if that info will help, again thankyou
Thankyou (I am a Noob to all of this, thankyou)

Are you trying to do a direct disc to disc copy or are you ripping the DVD to the hard drive and burning from there?

I would use DVD Decrypter for making a copy. ISO Read>ISO Write. Those other programs will likely try to modify the data and doing a disc to disc direct copy is never a good idea, IMO.

I am creating a VOB and burning it directly to another disc. That is why I use the 1 Click DVD Copy.
Then I sometimes use Nero. I know that it is probably not the best way, however the quality is sufficient for my families needs and suits the time that I am able to spend on such projects, which with my work is not an awful lot of time.

Thankyou for comments and I look forward to others as well, best regads and cheers!
