I'm converting a bunch of my AVI to make a DVD movie, I noticed that after the conversion, the files get named VTS_01_1.VOB... VTS_01_02.VOB etc.. etc..
I have a couple file that's already a .VOB format, but it's name SONGABC.VOB etc... if I throw that into the Video_TS folder when burning my DVD movie, will it reconise and play as normal?
I do some a simple problem, how will the DVD player know which track is in which order?
would it be as simple as renaming the file to continue the last .VOB file on the DVD if I can just drop it in as is?

No, your other files (the indices, so to speak) have to point to the VOB files too. Just VOB's won't play.

For the DVD file structure, look to the upper left in 'WHAT IS' DVD and go towards the bottom of the page. It has to adhere to that structure and include VOBs, IFOs, and BUPs. Even a minor change in the spelling or not capitalizing something like the 'VIDEO_TS' folder can result in it not playing.
The AUDIO_TS folder is optional, though.

so what would you recommend, giving I already have the DVD ripped onto my computer and I wanted to add a few more tracks to it?

Dump the VOB's back into MPEGS, add the addition MPEGS, then reauthor the whole thing.
