    Hello,

I have a movie file which uses (On2's) VP62 codec. Now I need some help after my QuickTime Player send me to the QuickTime Components page:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html

I downloaded and extracted the file, but it does not look as decribed in the installation instructions (below): The extracted file is a folder (called "VP32 Folder") with lots of contents, but without the so called "on2vp3.component").

    Can anyone tell me

-- if the whole folder is the component?
-- if the described location is really "/Library/QuickTime" or "/System/Library/QuickTime"?

Thanks in advance - here are the installation instructions:

    1. Login as "root".

    2. Extract the component from the file VP3QTOSX-3213-10182001.hqx (double click VP3QTOSX-3213-10182001.hqx OR open it with StuffIt Expander)

    3. Move the extracted file (on2vp3.component) to the /Library/QuickTime folder on your Macintosh OS X startup disk.

    a. I seriously doubt that VP3 will playback VP6 content.
    b. When I try the link, I get VP3QTOSX-3220-20020211.sit, which is 4 months newer, but still quite old. My copy only contained 2 files, so maybe your extras are source code or something?
    c. "/Library/QuickTime" is for 3rd party components; "/System/Library/QuickTime" is for Apple's own components.
    d. Maybe you needed to log in as root in 2001-2002, but with 10.4, Admin rights are enough to put stuff in "/Library/QuickTime".
