  1. Hello im making a muti-vts dvd beacuse i have video sources in 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios.
    Everythings works except when i try to make a transition from the vmg menu in the Vts1 , vts1 is where the 16:9 movie is located. The transtition is created in 4:3 aspect ratio, and of course it gives me problems of not being able to mix 4:3 and 16:9 in the same vts , so how im suposed to make a transition where the 16:9 movies are located when dvd lab decides to create 4:3 menus ??

    Thanks to all

  3. But if i select 16:9 there, then all the menus will be 16:9, which is not cool , i would like them to be 4:3.

    VMG 4:3 Menu -------Transition ¿4:3?-------------> VTS1 4:3 Menu1 -----> 16:9 movie

    -------------4:3 Transition------------------> VTS2 4:3 Menu2 ------> 4:3 movie

    So if i select 1:9 menus, then i would have problems in VTS2 having a 4:3 movie, would cause mix aspects in same vts problem. A solution would be to have 16:9 menus in vts1 and 4:3 menus in vts2, but if i cvhange project propietes it changes all the menus. even if thats posible the vmg is shared so in some point i would have a 16:9 --> 4:3 transition or viceversa which is awfull , so i dont know....

    I really wish Oscar would take all the trasition and gfx crap out of DLP and concentrate on the real authoring side of things. Do you transitions elsewhere. If you mix footage then you can't really get around the aspect ratio switch anyway, so make your transitions smarter. All you need is a simple fade to black at the change over, and the aspect ratio switch wont matter.

    Agree. The Swiss Army Knife approach rarely works. But it seems like a very common virus in the software development departments around the world.

    Ageed - dump this stuff and address the issue of soft hi-lites by enabling the menus to be designed in their native format.

    So what software you recommend for making the transitions ?

    I do motion work in my NLE (Vegas), often with the help of photoshop. As a transition is just a short movie that sits bwteen two assets, it is just a matter of dropping it in place and linking it up.

    You still have to overcome the change of aspect ratio across VTS's, which I don't think you will be able to do nicely. Which ever way you go, either your transition of your movie is going to have to switch, so things won't match completely.
