Is there such a thing as THX decoding on a computer? I don't see that there is any software that has the THX symbol on it. I do have a THX certified soundcard from Creative and THX certified speakers from Logitec. What a THX certified DVD drive???

There are plenty of THX certified DVD movies which do come with tweaking software for THX optimisation. Check out some of the titles (examples Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Titanic etc... are THX certified just to name a few).

PS I also have a THX certified sound card and speakers (both from creative).

Yes, I have several of the movies, but do you really get THX decoding from PC software and a DVD-ROM device?

Like I said if I have a THX soundcard and THX speaker setup, but is the software decoding the THX quality?

THX is a quality control system, not a codec. AC-3 and DTS are supported.

There are many FAQ's at the THX site and you can calibrate your system using the THX optimizer.

For most, you can get your system close to spec by using any of the supported DVDs to set general levels. The anal among us will notice small differences DVD to DVD intended to support the director's color and sound balance preferences for that movie.
