help! colour problem

Hi, can anyone help me? Everytime i try to convert avi (or divX) to vcd mpg, i get a gradual build up of red for about 10 seconds then the piccy goes back to normal and the whole process starts again, this happens for the whole of the file. I do not have a problem playing these files normally but only when encoding. I have used Tmpeg, roxio video pack 5, premiere 6 and xing and they all give the same results. Please help as this is really getting me ....... annoyed!!!!!!! please.

sorry i forgot to say ni am using divX 4.12 codec, but this was happening with other codecs, could it be my video card? i have a ATI all in one.
