Alright heres the problem. (using ffmpegX v0.0.9w r5)
I have been starting with a movie in wmv3 format, I seperate the 2 streams (VCD and mp3).
While this process errors out at the end, I believe it to be a result of the audio stream being inverted, as the movie itself works just fine.
Then I mux the two streams into a mpeg and convert it to avi.
For the most part, this process results in a file smaller than the original wmv, however check ffmpegx's size button to determine what the approx size should be, I find the final size to be double of what ffmpegX estimates.
So if I recompress/convert the movie to avi (avi->avi) using the exact same settings, the output becomes larger that the original. oddly enough. Figuring that the avi is or maybe corrupt. I use the fix feature under tools. The file becomes 2mb smaller, on average.
Being a patient guy, I repeat the compression process. Doesn't help because the fixing method only works to a certain point.
So is this problem related to movies which started as wmv3? No.
If I try to resize a video or change the bitrate on an avi file (avi->avi). The problem is surfaces again, most of the time.
Usually I use the following settings as most of these videos are for archiving
200Kbs, 480x360, 32kb sound and 32000 sampling.
Any ideas?
