  1. Since there are a few other topics with wierd questions, I figure why not add another. One is about a tv show and one is about a video game.

    TV SHOW
In the 80's, there was a "skit" show named "bla blah something Frankenstein." There was a fat guy with a blue face, a guy dressed up as a vampire, and the "dj" guy. What was that show? Its on the tip of my tongue but I cant place it. Was with some friends this weekend and somehow this show came up but none of us could remember it. It should be pretty simple for someone :P

    VIDEO GAME
Ok .. so two video games that I dont remember.
The first one was a "pac man" looking game. A little guy went around the screen making a path to get to the door at the other end. You had to drop bombs to get rid of things, drop things out from behind you, etc. There was like 100 levels or something.

The second one was kind of like Tetris but different. You had a litle "paddle" at the bottom and then a picture of a bunch of blocks. You had a little ball that destroyed all the blocks. When some of them destroyed, they gave you little "power ups." Longer paddle, multiple balls, fireball, etc, etc.

    Any ideas?

Ok .. so it was a bit of a nostalgia weekend .. sue me :P Thats what happens when you have a lot to drink with some old high school buddies that you havent seen in like 10 years :P

The Space channel in canada still shows 'Hilarious House of Frightenstein' re-runs ... and it is the unedited version (the usa got a chopped up half hour version with an added laugh track, the Canada version was a hour long show with more science ....)

you can buy the edited version on dvd - 3 disk set ... but it is the crap version only

Second City spoofed this show for many years on SCTV (john candy , et. al. ) ...

For the video games are you talking about Nintendo games? If so the first one sounds like Adventures of Lolo to me (there's 3 of them.) It could maybe be Bomberman but I think that's more of a versus type of game. It may also be Solomon's Key or Lode Runner. There's alot of old games that meet that description.

The second game sounds like Breakout.

  5. Thanks for the info on the show. Thats the one. I completely forgot Vincent Price was in that. Should'a been more obvious. Thanks guys :P

Adam: No no .. I dont think they are nintendo games, especially not the first one. If I recall correctly, it seemed to be more of a "made for internet" kind of game. It was nothing mainstream I dont think.

The first game for some reason reminds me of Pengo. You had to push blocks out of your way but only if there was a way to get behind them. You couldn't do it if there was another block beside it. I think you also had a limited number of bombs you could drop for when you got in a jam. Is that what you're talking about? It would be from arcade machines in the 80's.

The second game was originally called arkanoid. I've seen it named breakout for the internet and several other names also, but it's basically the same game.

It was originally called breakout for the Atari videogame systems, but you are correct. It is basically the same game.

Deffffinately very close to Pengo but not quite the same. Man, the mind IS the first thing to go as you get older. So sad that I am only 32 lol
