  1. Hi,

I have a DVD that I want to sell on eBay. I think it's Region Free, but not 100% sure. Is there a way to find out if it is?

    Thanks!

  2. Hi-

Yes, lots of ways. One of the easier ones is to just stick it in the DVD-ROM and open DVD Decrypter to have a look at it.

DVD Decrypter will tell you what regions the disc is.
He's a liar and a murderer, and I say that with all due respect.

  4. Great!!! Thanks so much!!! I have Decrypter. I never noticed that it could show me if a DVD is Region Free!

    Thanks again!

Don't always trust DVD Decrypter to tell you the region coding of a dvd.
Use IfoEdit to open the VIDEO_TS.IFO on the disc and check, that is a sure fire way to tell.
    DVDInfoPro is pretty good also.

DVD Decrypter has always showed any disc i check with it as being encoded for all regions when they are in fact not.

Any disc? Or discs you made yourself? Because it's plainly untrue that it shows all discs as being for all regions. I put in an R1 US retail DVD and it showed as R1 only. I put in an R2 Japanese retail DVD, and it showed as R2. I put in an R2 European retail DVD and it showed as R2. I put in an R3 Hong Kong retail DVD and it showed as R3. I put in an all-region Indian retail DVD, and it showed as all-region. I put in some of my backups and they show as all-region (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). Don't kid yourself; DVD Decrypter is as good a way to tell as the IFO. I could be wrong, but I think it gets the information from the IFO. Maybe all the retails you own are bootlegs. :)

No i'm not talking about disc's i make
WTF, i'm not new and i know the diff.

I can take screen shot's of store bought pressed dvd's that will show as all regions in DVD Decrypter yet show the true region encoding with IFOedit.

And i also have region 1,2,3,4 ect. encoded pressed disc's and other's that are multiple region encoded, not ALL regions, just maybe 2 or 3 diff. regions encoded so that mean's nothing to me.

And i am not kidding anyone just my experiance. Awhile back me and jimmalenko were talking about region coding and posted diff. screenshots showing diff. programs reporting diff. regions on the SAME disc!!

And unless BestBuy and other major retailers from around the world are all selling bootlegs

All i was stating is IFOedit is the best surefire way to look into the dvd and get all the exact details.
