I just started testing the trial version of Ulead 5 + last night and I have run into a road block. I start a new project to output to DVD, I add one 10 min. mpeg file to the project and click next. I set the motion menu for 30 seconds (the maximum) and use a separate 30 sec clip as the Background video. Everything is fine, but I can not figure out how to make the small window that contains the mpeg file I used play the 30 seconds I want it to play. If I go back and click on Multi-trim Video and trim it there it also trims the final 10 min video as well. Is there a way to choose the 30 seconds I would like to show in the little window without affecting the actual video?

Double-click the thumbnail, and then a popup will let you move the slider to where you want the motion to start...

When I try to double click on the thumb nail in the “Select a source and import (step 1/3)” window it opens up the Enhance Video window and nothing I seem to do there give me the desired result. If I try to make changes using the Multi-trim function it affects both the thumb nail and the whole video once it is played through the main menu. When I try to double click on the thumb nail in the “Select a template to create menu (step 2/3)” it just brings up a 4 way black arrow that allows me to move the thumb nail

Are you using a THUMBNAIL or SCENES menu

I remember the process works for THUMBNAIL menus -- I cannot check on the SCENES menus at the moment (that computer is rendering a long project right now).

I don’t see a way to specify thumbnail or scenes menu. I am using the trial version 5 plus so I am not sure that it makes a difference. Even the help menu don’t look correct. The picture of the “DVD MovieFactory launcher” in the help meun looks nothing like mine.

I'm not sure if the Trial only has the SmartScenes menus (and not the Thumbnail Menus).

But in the full version, there is a pulldown menu in the GALLERY tab. The possible menu options are
    SmartScene Menus
    Text Menus
    Thumbnail Menus
    Favorites

I just looked at the full version, and you can change the motion start point when using one of the Thumbnail Menus.

If you don't have that option in the Trial, then I'm not sure how you can modify the start point for a motion thumbnail.

Thanks for your help. I found what you are talking about. I did not even try using the gallery because I thought it was just different templates. The trial version only has one sample of each type (SmartScene Menus, Text Menus, Thumbnail Menus). How many do you get with the full version? Also haw many Menu in and outs come with the full version. I have 20 ins and 21 outs.
BTW: I showed my wife what I was working on now she wants me to make the thumbnail be a still picture. Do you know how I can do that?

    Thanks again

Here's a link to some of the product docs

    http://www.ulead.com/dmf/documents.htm

I have about the same number of ins/outs.

You can change a thumbnail to a Still by turning off motion, and selecting a frame from the video the thumbnail points to
