  1. is it possible to increase the bitrate on a vcd to more than 1150kbps?

  2. Won't be VCD anymore. Instead, clean up your video and your MPG won't need as much bitrate for quality. Of course, I am assuming you are encoding captured video, not a DVD rip. Most DVD rips are clean enough, maybe inverse telecine it to save a few bits (20%?).

    Second opinion:

    Sure, increase the bitrate, otherwise you need almost perfect source to get good results. Check your player and make sure it can play xVCD which is a higher bitrate, non-standard VCD. Then in TMPGenc, load the VCD template and unlock it. Then, change the bitrate.

    I never use the standard bitrate and do most things in the 1500 - 2000 kbps range. Good luck.

  4. im trying to make a standard vcd because the standalone i have will not except any other hybrid except vcd, and at a bitrate of 1150kbps the film has a lot of blocks, its a dvd rip that iam trying encoding.

  5. hrm....if u must have standard bitrate/resolution

    only thing u can do is to set motion search accuracy to high quality (slow)

    what movie is this now?
    * ...rip, did you rip it yourself? ...or by someone elses flaud rip?
    * R da blocks constant or just in certain scenes?

    which plays better:
    * anyways, how does it look on your PC monitor?
    * and your TV?

    I'm trying to find a decent dvd clip to upload on my new storage site
    any suggestions on a quicky clip for you to compare???
