Well I've captured footage using DScaler, compressed while recording using Huffyuv. The footage was recorded using a DVD-recorder recorded onto DVD-RAM discs. To get to the point I'm trying to convert/render the filetype from being a .AVI to a .WMV, as to make it possible to upload (current filesize is 1.44GB), but whatever program I try to use has problems and won't let me. These are all the error messages I've gotten from using the different programs I've tried:

M2PMCEncoderZX - Didn't find WMV 9 codec, Exciting! (when trying to open it)

    STOIK Video Converter 2:
A multimedia error 0xC00D0BC5 has occurred.
The system cannot find message text for message number 0x%1 in the message file for %2 (when trying to convert to .wmv)

    Windows Media Encoder:
The requesred audio codec is not installed on this system. (0xC00D0BC2) (when trying to convert to .wmv) - I also got the same message when tried with a downloaded .mpg

    Windows Movie maker:
"Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie file to the specified location. Verify that the origional source files used in your movie are still available . that the saving location is still available, and that there is enough free disk space available, then try again." (when trying to "save movie file"
However, these are the stats it gives me before trying to convert:

    Estimated space required:
    43.95 MB
Estimated disk space available on drive F:
    79.94 GB

    (end errors)

There seems to be some correlation with the 0xC00D0BC(2 or 5) error, and with the audio codecs, however I used GSpot to see if I needed any codecs required to play it and it says the audio format is PCM, with no codec required saying:
"This audio is not compressed, or compressed using a very simple method. As such, there is no 'codec' required to play it;all or the necessary software is already 'built-in' to the O/S.
The audio for this format should play fine.

I don't know if that is related to converting/rendering the file. Also, it does play fine, I can play it with no hassle in Winamp. Another thing is that I have tried rendering/converting with downloaded .mpgs and they give me the same error, so maybe it is something to do with my actual computer? Some help would be greatly appreciated, and if needed I can record a small clip of say 10 seconds and upload to see if any of you can render it.
    Thanks.

Try SUPER. It does a good job of handling odd formats.

If you captured using HuffyUV, then you would have a large file, but it should be compatible with most all AVI programs. Try dropping it into VirtualDub and see what it says. Maybe the video or audio are out of spec or set too high a bitrate. WMM or WMM should have no trouble with the HuffyUV format.

The problems you relate are varied. I'm not sure which one is causing the difficulty. Maybe someone else has some better ideas.

    And welcome to our forums.

    Thanks.

    Here's a 2 second clip I uploaded:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4I3B2VWV

If you can try render it that'd be great.

Yeah, I tried SUPER aswell, it worked... sort of. The quality was reduced and it came out with... blocks...? everywhere. Here, I uploaded the same clip after I converted with SUPER:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J02RSAX7

I think the problem is something to do with my computer, not the filetype.

    Thanks for the help.

You may have a problem with your PCM audio codec. I converted it with Windows media encoder to WMV and it turned out fine. SUPER was probably a bad suggestion on my part as it's WMV encoding is problematic. I also tried it with TMPGEnc encoder to MPEG format and no problem. So I'm guessing your Huffy capture is OK and the problem is when converting it.

It went from 5.2MB to 1.63MB with WME. But that was at the 'file storage' setting. You could probably get it quite a bit smaller if needed and not lose much quality.

That's the first time I've used WME in quite a while and I rarely encode to WMV, so I'm not much help for it.

Do you know where I could find an updated version of, or could fix the PCM codec? I hope that is the case, but it's strange that GSpot says that no codec is required .

    Thanks for your help.

Hmm, well the PCM audio doesn't seem to be the problem. I used WME on another computer and it converted perfectly, so there seems to be a problem with my PC? I still have no clue as to what it is.

Hi I'm having the same problem...

Movie Maker wont encode files (same error message), same 0xc00d0bc5 message in the converter.

Does anyone know what software(or where in windows) does the wmv encoding and how to fix?

    Thanks
