I've got a Sempron 2800 in an Asrock motherboard that has adjustable vcore but the option is greyed out and can't be changed. Asrock support says that the vcore is locked on some AMD cpu's just like the multplier being locked.
Has anyone heard of a cpu's vcore being locked?

As far as I know there were some AMD socket 462 cpu's where the multiplier was locked. I do know that the AMD socket 462 2400 mobile cpu the mulitipler was unlocked so overclocking was possible.

I built a AMD 64 socket 754 2800 Sempron cpu with a ECS nvidia chipset mobo. I had it overclocked to 2.2ghz with no heat issues and even used the stock heatsink fan. What's the model number of that Asrock mobo? Is it a AMD socket 754 2800 Sempron cpu that you're using?

Asrock is full of it..There's no such thing as locked vcore - it's either a BIOS issue (check for updates), or a case of them wanting to castrate the boards..Asrock is the value division of Asus after all - they can't very well give you the same range of adjustability as their 'premium' brand. A similar thing happened on the 939-Dual SATA 2 board (or w/e the model is) - they locked it at ~275 HTT in an attempt to keep it below the Asus boards.

It may very well be that they didn't add proper recognition/functionality for your particular CPU code. Besides, you could always do a vcore mod on the board, if you're willing to get your hands dirty as they say.
