    Hi

I captured some live video streaming using my download manager Reget, is was an MMS live stream of an air show.

I now have a 9 Gig file with no extention, Windows media player and VideoLan both play the file but I have no bar to drag so that I can go to a certain point in the video, I assume its because its a streamed file.

How can I convert this streamed file to a WMV or MPEG file so that I can jump to a section.

    The video is stream 1
    Codec: WMV3
    Resolution: 384 x 244
Codec Name: Windows Media Video 9

    Regards, Dave

  2. 1. Make a copy of this file and change the new file's extension to wmv.
    2. Start TMPGenc, and browse to the wmv file, select a TMPGenc template.
    3. Click setting, and then video tab, change the H and V size to one of the nearest choices.
    4. Click start.
    5. Get your mpeg file.

A friend with a fast connection captured a 8hour stream for me and I ended up in the same boat as you , in the end I connected it to my dvd recorder and converted it that way . For some reason really big streamed videos dont like editing , their format is different as I recall from standard wmv files , as standard WMV files can have markers placed in them but mine wouldnt accept them .

As I recall , I also gave up on converting as the test pieces I did convert , ended up severely out of sync .
